Laser tattoo removal
Tattoo Removal
It is estimated that 25% of the population of Greece has some kind of tattoo. 50% of them - for different reasons - want to remove their tattoo with lasers. There is good news for everyone who has an unwanted design. Newer laser tattoo removal techniques can eliminate your tattoos with minimal side effects.
How do you remove it?
Initially the Tattoo Removal Laser is used, which dissolves the pigments of the tattoo with a high intensity light beam.
The Black Tattoo Pigment absorbs all laser wavelengths, making it easier to treat.
Other colors can only be treated with selected lasers based on color-dye, with specialized, pulsed lasers (Q-Switched Lasers).
Laser Tattoo Removal (Q-Switched Lasers)
The energy is emitted by the specialized Q-Switched Laser, in no time, breaking the grains of its pigment tattoo into very small parts.
These parts are in turn gradually removed from the body's defense cells, without causing irritation or damage to the rest of the skin.
The colors most effectively removed are black, dark blue, blue and green, while red and orange are difficult to remove and even more difficult to remove yellow and white.
Frequently Asked Questions about Tattoo Removal
Which technique should I choose?
Because each tattoo is unique, the removal technique must be adapted to suit each individual case. In the past, tattoos could be removed by a wide variety of methods, but, in many cases, the scars were more unsightly than the tattoo itself.
How big is the pain? Can anesthesia be used?
Most patients don't need anesthesia. However, depending on the location of the tattoo and the resistance to pain the doctor may choose to use some form of anesthesia (local anesthesia cream or painkiller injections in place of the procedure)
I've tried to remove tattoos before, but the result doesn't satisfy me. Can I try again?
Patients who had previously received tattoo therapy may also be candidates for laser treatment. Tattoos that have not been effectively removed with other treatments can
respond well to the laser treatment provided by previous treatments and do not lead to excessive scarring.
How many visits does it take to remove the tattoo?
Depending on the size and color of your tattoo the number of treatments varies. Your Tattoo can be removed in 4 visits, although it can take up to 10 sessions. You should schedule a visit during which a trained professional will assess your personal situation and advise you on the process.
Laser therapy varies from patient to patient depending on the age, size and type of tattoo. The color of the patient's skin, as well as the depth at which the tattoo pigment extends, will also affect the removal technique.
Laser tattoo removal procedure
In general, this is what will happen during a visit to the dispensary to remove tattoos, using the latest laser techniques:
The protective shields for the eyes are placed on the patient.
The skin's reaction to the laser is controlled in order to determine the most effective action for treatment.
The treatment itself consists of placing a square in the hand, against the surface of the skin and activating laser light. As many patients describe it, each pulse feels like a grease splatter or adhesion like a rubber band on the skin.
Smaller tattoos require fewer pulses while larger ones require more. In any case, the tattoo requires several treatments and multiple visits. In each treatment, the tattoo should become progressively lighter.
After removing the tattoo
Immediately after treatment, an ice pack is applied to soothe the treated area.
The patient should then apply a topical antibiotic cream or ointment.
A bandage or patch will be used to protect the area
The area should also be covered with sunscreen, when exposed to the sun, for as long as your doctor recommends.
